THE EXPERIENCE

A Return to Tradition

No head of the table. No social hierarchy. Only shared vessels and ancestral warmth.

Conceived by Chef Fatmata Binta — the first African chef awarded the prestigious Basque Culinary World Prize — Dine on a Mat dissolves conventional dining pretenses into an unforgettable ritual. Rooted in the nomadic traditions of the Fulani people and enriched by Chef Binta's Sierra Leonean heritage, guests remove their shoes, gather close on handcrafted woven mats, and break bread together as equals.

Centuries-old grain varieties like drought-resilient fonio, slow-braised aromatic meats, and delicately spiced indigenous stews are served from communal platters. Beyond culinary mastery, every place set supports the Fulani Kitchen Foundation, empowering female fonio farmers across West Africa. This is not merely an upscale dinner: it is an intimate cultural communion designed to forge enduring bonds across the diaspora.
